2010 also saw the completion of the new storage area and railway siding in Erndtebrück. More than 200,000 cubic metres of earth had to be excavated to complete this project which now allows more environmentally friendly transport meaning that more pipes are delivered by train rather than truck.
The success of EEW has seen it maintain a steady growth rate over the years. Up until 1975 there were a maximum of 40 employees, until 1993 this figure had grown to 160 and in 2001 there were 300 employees. Today, with six production facilities and eleven regional sales offices worldwide, the EEW group has an output of more than 450,000 tonnes per annum and more than 1,200 employees. EEW has gained a global reputation as one of the industry's leading specialists. Further expansion is underway as EEW has become a majority partner alongside Saudi Steel Pipe, Ahmed Hamad Al-Khonaini and Pan Gulf Holding in the joint venture Global Pipe Company (GPC) in Saudi Arabia. GPC is expected to be opened in 2012 and will produce an estimated 200.000 tonnes of pipe per annum. This will go a long way to meet Saudi Arabia's domestic demand for LSAW pipes that until now have had to be imported into the region.
