Aberdeen OWF

4,600 tons of structural pipes made by EEW are contributing to make the offshore wind energy even more eco-friendly

11 offshore wind turbines are producing 92.4 MW – at the first glance, the key characteristics of Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm do not impress. But the reason which stands behind the 300 Mio. Euro project do impress. Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm is the largest research programme to understand the environmental impacts of offshore wind.

EEW will deliver structural pipe components that are ready for installation having dimensions ranging from 813 mm to 1,651 mm outside diameter, 20 mm to 82 mm wall thickness and an assembled length of up to 26.5 m. As main investor Vattenfall plans to generate first power in summer 2018, the project faces a tight schedule. Due to this, pipe production and delivery to EEW customer Smulders in Belgium, who is responsible for the jacket construction, started in February 2017.
