Going forward to a sustainable future

Offshore Wind

Offshore Wind Farm

A reliable and sustainable source of electricity

EEW Group is specialized in the production of offshore wind foundations. We manufacture monopiles and pre-fabricated components for jacket constructions for offshore wind farm installation companies.

The industry has seen impressive growth in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming decades. Several factors are driving the growth of offshore wind, including increasing demand for clean energy, reducing costs of technology, and supportive government policies.

One of the key drivers of offshore wind growth is the need to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change. As countries around the world work to achieve their greenhouse gas reduction targets, offshore wind is becoming an increasingly important part of the energy mix. Offshore wind is a reliable and sustainable source of electricity, with the potential to replace fossil fuels and significantly reduce carbon emissions.

Innovations for tomorrow´s offshore wind industry

The EEW Group supports research & development projects for the offshore wind industry. Solutions must be developed for major technical challenges such as the harsh marine environment and enormous water depths in order to achieve the ambitious sustainability goals.

We participate in the ongoing demonstration study of Entrion Wind for the patent-pending "Fully Restrained Platform (FRP)" offshore wind foundation technology.

As a strong partner for the industry, EEW has already participated in the first German research projects, like Alpha Ventus, and makes an outstanding contribution to research and development in Offshore Wind industry in Germany.

Pioneer in European offshore wind business

The EEW Group has made a significant contribution to the expansion of the global offshore wind industry. With the foundation of EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC), more than 2,200 monopiles have already been manufactured - primarily for European wind farms. EEW PPE, also located in Germany, Erndtebrück manufactures jacket components, pin piles and other structural pipes for different offshore wind applications.

Wind energy already accounts for 15% of electricity generation in Europe and is expected to become the most important source of electricity generation by 2027. This is an essential prerequisite for achieving the European Green Deal goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.

Bringing offshore wind monopiles to the USA

With the building of the first and largest plant for the production of monopiles for offshore wind turbines in the USA, EEW significantly drives the sustainable energy sector overseas. 100 monopiles a year will be manufactured in 2024 at full production capacity. EEW has already been awarded the 1.5 GW Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1 as the manufacturer of monopiles. By 2030, the USA wants to cover 20% of the national energy demand with clean wind energy. For this purpose, 300 GW of wind energy will be generated.

EEW American Offshore Structures will employ more than 500 highly skilled clean energy workers in the second phase of expansion. The economic and social impact for the Paulsboro site is significant.

Strong footprint in Asian offshore wind market

Our facilities in Korea and Malaysia are specialized in the production of offshore wind components. EEW Korea, founded in 2001, followed by EEW KHPC, in 2008, and EEW Malaysia, in 2015, manufacture pre-fabricated components for jacket constructions & pin piles for local Asian offshore wind industry. The planned capacity of Asian offshore wind energy is approximately 30 GW until 2030.
